GOKEN RETIRES TO HARAS DE LA HUDERIE

GOKEN who is one of five Group winners to date for Kendargent will become his first son to stand at stud when he takes up duties at Haras de La Huderie for a fee of €5,000 exc. VAT (live foal) in 2017. He showed precocity as a two-year-old when he won the Gr.3 Prix du Bois before finishing third in the Gr.2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte. As a three-year-old he took the Gr.3 Prix Texanita before crossing The Channel to be trained by Kevin Ryan for whom he won a Listed race in Lingfield on his first start. In June 2016, Goken beat some of the best sprinters in Europe when finishing third to Profitable in the Gr.1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. Guy Pariente recently made the decision to retire Goken from racing but he has chosen to base the four-year-old at Haras de La Huderie: “It is only five minutes away from Haras de Colleville and I think Beranger Bussy will do a very good job at promoting him. I love Goken as a horse and I have a lot of faith in his future as a stallion.”
